About the Hotel
There are many boutique hotels with set themes springing up around the corners nowadays. However, it is very difficult to come across one that would give you a genuine feel and also the proper value for money. But here you have a hotel, right in the heart of the city of your dreams, which feels like a dream. Yes, the Idol Hotel in Paris is just the one for you if you are a lover of music who would hate to lose the feel of the cobbled stones and the music in the air once you turn in for the night. Designed by experts who love music and are famous for their attention to detail, this four star hotel is just perfect for you if you are out vacationing with your spouse or just soaking in the beauty of the city.
Calling itself the ‘grooviest hotel in Paris’, Idol Hotel will transport you to the jazzy world of the ‘60s and ‘70s – the world of music with pianos and trumpets and disco lights. And why not? Its current owner, Yann Gasparini, is a passionate lover of Jazz, Soul and Funk, and has used the help of some of the coolest names in the Parisian deco scene to revive the hotel in the quarter of Paris famous for its musical extravaganza.
Located on rue d’Edimbourg, near the Grands Magasins, this 4 star hotel is in the most visited area of Paris, and its prime location leaves you with the best Parisian experiences at the tips of your fingers.
Starting operations in 1895, this hotel features original architecture and its classic white façade is a tribute to the times heralding Modernism. The balconies overlooking the streets with their flowers and greens would take you back to the time of continental romances. The latest renovation preserves all that and makes it a perfect fit for The 8th Arrondissement of Paris, a favorite among tourists for shopping, food and romance, with neighbors like the Paris National Conservatory and the Opera Garnier.
In fact, the location is killing. This 6 storied building is at a 20 minutes walking distance from the Champs-Elysees and 15 minutes from the Galeries Lafayette. It has 2 airports within 23 kilometers and 2 train stations within one. There are 2 underground stations within 500 meters. And to boot, there are two top of the lines restaurants within just 100 meters!
The interior of the Idol Hotel is what makes it worth drooling over, and cements its reputation as a big name among the hotels of its type in Europe.
The interior has been decorated by the renowned hotel decorator Julie Gauthron, who herself swears by music and is perhaps the coolest hotel decorator in Paris with her out of the box ideas. Julie has given her best in recreating the look in association with A-D Tango, the architectural house with some very big names in its folio, and Elegancia Hotels.
The music fittings of the place are by the noted DJ Francois Mazza, and would take you back to a time in the ‘60s, ‘70s and the early ‘80s with music that would make your whole stay in the hotel an experience worth cherishing forever.
And what is experience without the satisfaction of the senses and some placidity, right? Idol Hotel offers you just that. Each element of the hotel, whether it be walls or the furniture, is texturized to give it a feel of velvet, vinyl, silk and the like that will leave you with a desire to touch and feel them and take them in.
But the biggest attractions of the place are the rooms. Each of the 32 rooms in the boutique hotel comes with a different musical theme (yes, you read that correctly). And with names for like Lady Soul, Moon Blue, Joy and Light My Fire just for the standard rooms, you will be spoilt for choice and will feel like coming back again and again to experience each room at least once. Yes, it is that good.
The five bigger rooms, Blue Sunshine, My Cherie Amour, Jungle Fever, Give Me the Night and Feeling Good, are known as the ‘funky’ suites and have Planet L spherical diffusers by Elipson refashioned and combined with the boom boxes and the vintage tables to create the perfect mood for dancing. You can also connect them to Bluetooth speakers or to your smartphone.
That is not all though. Each room has its own signature tone, so the colors ranging from ‘60s psychedelic to pop ‘shock’ are offset by wallpapers in glitter or geometrical pattern, and the colorful album covers of Motown and Stax Records add the perfect finish.
Each smoke free room comes with its own minibar, a Nespresso coffee machine, a flat-screen TV with satellite channels, a telephone, a work desk, an iron with ironing board, and wireless internet. You also get to have your own private bathroom with a bathtub, bath sheets and dressing gowns. There is your own patio with honeysuckle and jasmine to go with the feel of the old Parisian houses where you can relax after a tired day out. You get breakfast delivered to your room once you decide to shell out some extra bucks.
The lighting is just amazing in this hotel in the City of Lights. You are welcomed to the lobby by the tunes of Earth Wind & Fire playing under the beautiful sculptural ‘Botti’ ceiling lights by DelightFULL. These lights are made of gold-coated brass in the shape of the trumpet, the trombone and the organ which announce the name of the next score to be played! And all the communal areas offer you with piles of vinyls to listen to.
That’s not all. In the lounge area, you get to see a jazzy bright neon light designed by Gauthron and going by the name ‘The Sound of the Trumpet’. The corridors are lined with the magnificent ‘Coltrane’ lamps, again by DelightFULL.
The Idol team is always there at your disposal to help you plan out the best way you can spend the evening and can get the best out of its unique location.
The hotel is a perfect venue for everything ranging from press launches to an intimate birthday party. You get to access the meeting room which can seat 12 people. There is a business centre, a photocopier and a catering service right in the place for those who are travelling for business. Also, this hotel offers you transfers to and from the airport.
To soothe your muscles after walking through the best places of Paris nearby, there is a wellness centre and a sauna that offers you a body massage or a reflex massage. You can also get a Detox done at your room. In case you want to get a massage yourself, you can use the Dry Oil Huile Prodigieuse available in all their suites, which also come with their own ‘NUXE’ cosmetic products.
